20160410 Tas Lilydale, Evandale to Perth
20160410 On our way to check out Lilydale, originally known as Upper Piper and nestles under the slopes of Mount Arthur in northern Tasmania. In recent times many of the locals artists have painted the local telegraph poles with murals and the town has become known as the “Home of the Painted Poles”.
Lilydale Town, we parked up and checked out the local markets.
Our Van couldn’t fit in the rest area but we did the walked to the Lilydale Falls before heading off.

11-04-2016 Next stop Evandale and once again one of the best preserved historic towns in Australia, gee isn’t that what they all say but the town was once home to John Kelly, whose son was the famous bushranger Ned Kelly.
The iconic storage tower stands at the entrance of Evandale and was built in 1896 and was used to store water up until 1968.
The wheels of time turn back 100 years to host The Village Fair and National Penny Farthing Championship held annually.

Monument of Harry Murray, Farmer - Soldier, who was wounded twice at Gallipoli and earned the nick name Mad Harry, and his story doesn't end there but I wont bore you with the rest.
The Clarendon Arms Hotel, dated (c1847) and you can get a nice lunch for $15 we were told.
We drove onto Perth just another tiny town with many historical buildings and like you I am kind of over the old buildings but some of these towns are doing it hard and we don't want to loose our history so every bit of tourism helps each town.
