20160402 Tas Derby

20160402 Derby, overlooking the Ringarooma River, it is small on scale but also has many stories to tell, but don’t worry I won’t bore you with the historical details.

The town of Derby is set around surroundings mountains.

Home are built around large boulders and if you are interested the photo on the right is for sale, can you imagine building a home on there.

Kiss me baby, the residents in Tassie really get into their quirky characters.
This monument is dedicated to the 14 residents who lost their lives in 1929 when disaster hit the town and Briseis mine was flooded.

Never mind standing around idle get to work you lazy bum.

Our camp for the next couple of days, maybe I might get lucky and see a platypus.

Check this out, each morning we had a visit from the resident roster who starting crowing about 4pm.

A decade ago Derby was dying, no school, no jobs and no hope, then something remarkable happened.  It had the right elevation, right soil, right natural features, and crucially, the trail could start and end in town, thus the Blue Derby mountain bike trail was created putting Derby on the map once again.
