20160212 Tas The Spirit of Tasmainia to Devonport
12-02-2016 After a dreadful night’s sleep or
should I say no sleep, then the alarm went off at 4am to drive and find our way
to the ferry. There’s ferry signs all
the way we were told, well! What a load of crap, the signage is appalling, we
ended lost until I put the address in the nav that headed us in the correct
direction, thank god, how stressful was that Des.
Yaa! Here she come’s “The Spirit of Tasmania”
to take us cruising across the Tasman.
After a delay of about an hour we are
finally getting loaded onto the ship or boat as Dawn would call it.
See ya in 2 ½ months Melbourne.
Des taking in the view as we leave the
port then we sit back in our recliners ready for our 12 hour trip. We both snoozed on and off, read and I managed to catch up on some blogging to pass the time away.
The exhaust system at the bow of the ship adds a bit of character to the ship.
Devonport as we head for the wharf is situated at the mouth of the Mersey River.
As we were up the front the crew let the semi's go first, then we were on our way, only when we got to the quarantine gate Des turned off the van thinking we had a long wait but we were moved on only Des couldn't get the van started holding up the exit, just as the crew were calling to have us towed Des got her going, thank god. We stopped to restock our supplies then drove onto Leith where we were told we could camp only there is now a No Camping sign but after talking to a couple of locals we stayed anyway.
