20120210 Qld Iluka

20120210 Finally, were on our way headed south for our Great Southern Trip (well that’s what Des called it) no site seeing yet.  Our first rest stop was a place called New Italy near Woodburn right on the bloody main highway not much sleep that night, I knew I should have had a few drinks (NO I didn’t drink) and I even went for a walk while Des chatted to our Neighbour Bob over a couple Beers.

Iluka

2012-02-10    We drove on to Iluka a terrific little fishing town located in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, Iluka is situated a 17 km drive off the Pacific Highway on the northern mouth of the Clarence River, surrounded by Bundjalung National Park and the South Pacific Ocean.  Iluka was proclaimed a township in 1885 & has so far avoided the commercialized coastal development, that’s it for the history.  We parked up & walked along the beach front found there Pub very old & run down & we didn’t even have a drink "surprise surprise" but it did have some interesting photos on the Pub walls.

  We walked on & found a sea food shop (must check that out on our way back) walked around the wharf took some photos then back for some prawns.  Des brought a 1/2 kg caught that morning they were that good he went back & brought another ½ kg.

Mick Chapman & Des brought a 1/2 kg prawns together some years ago & Mick said he would never buy prawns with Des again apparently Des peeled three to his one, I know exactly how you felt Mick.

Walking along the beach front I noticed these boot just waiting for someone to take them for a walk or take a photo of.

Des gets out his trusty camp6 book looking for a camp site preferably for free, we try to find a place to camp up for the night around 4.00pm so our next stop is Coramba near Coffs Harbour not much there but we did meet a bunch of happy campers (all non-drinkers) but that didn’t stop me, Des recons I fell asleep in the chair around their camp fire, but I don’t believe him.

Many of the highest quality and well known clubs from around the world participate in this tournament every year. 20240911 NSW Moonbi Lookout to Walcha, Aratula to Home

20240911 On our way towards Tamworth, we heard there rain heading our way so our aim is to park at the lookout in Moonbi that has solid ground. The wood has been stripped around the camp site so I walked deeper into the bush and returned with a bag, there’s no stopping me when it comes to my fires. Des prepared dinner while I set up the fire, we had dinner then sat around my nice fire while sitting under the nights stars and enjoying a few ales. We had a new camper turn up today and camped just in front of us with his little Jack Russell Dog who came for a visit and took a liking to Des. The Moonbi Lookout, Perched on a huge granite outcrop at an elevation of 754m (2,473ft) above the sea level. The View overlooking the valley below, stunning. The Moonbi Lookout is off the New England highway then follow the Lookout Road to the car park at the top where there is plenty of room for overnight parking. 20250408 Spain Madrid 3

20250408 It’s still the same day as we continue our walk along the streets of Madrid, the main homes are units, mainly because i t has almost 3.5 million  inhabitants and a metropolitan area  population of approximately 7 million. Madrid  began in the 9th century with the founding of a fortress named "Mayrit" by the Emir Muhammad of Córdoba, the city flourished under Arab rule but was later reconquered by Christians when it became part of the Kingdom of Castile. In 1561, Madrid was officially made the capital of Spain by King Philip III. C heck out these buildings they are so beautiful and unique and I did notice there are no cloths lines hanging outside, but don’t be deceived there’s a lot of little nooks and crannies hidden out the back of these buildings.
