20210714 Qld Julia Creek 2
20210714 Ray and Kay pack up and head off on there next adventure but we decided to stick around a bit longer and hang out with our mate Wendy so Des and I hopped on the pushie's supplied and head to town for a look. Just over 1600 kl from Brisbane lies the town of Julia Creek, originally named Scorpion but, in 1870, it was changed to Julia Creek after Donald McIntyre's niece after they settled in the area in 1862.
The main street of Julia Creek, I must say the people who live here sure do take pride in their town as they are very clean and tidy, expensive but tidy.
The street sign with the months of when the big events are in town.
One of the Mural depicting the town's wine glass water tower.
The mural depicts the Royal Mail in the days of Cobb & Co
There were 79 people between the age of 9 to 79 helped in some way to complete the project that was inspired by the native local flora.
It was 1906 this grand old Hotel was built and she still as solid as the days it was built.
The Dunnart is a native marsupial, and no it's not a Mouse, it's has a head and body length of 60-90mm, tail 45-70cm in length and weighs only 10-20g.
There may not be many but as long as he catches a couple each day it keeps him busy and out of our hair.
One of my pet hate is rubbish, just ask Des, he hates me collecting and carting it with us, better in the truck I say.
Arr not to worry there only fresh water croc's, as Des heads out to check his pots.
These little buggers kept on darting passed us all day and just missing us.
These guys would turn up every morning and afternoon waiting for Des to feed them, and he did.
Sunset over our camp and Des just had to air the laundry.
I went to pat him and he attacked me as Wendy cracked up laughing, shes another one who gets pleasure from someone else pain, not funny Wendy.
Look everyone, Des caught a fish, so what if it's only 6inchs long and it caught it self in the net.π
Wendy and I walked the ground and stopped for a chat when we asked if we could take a photo of their sign, they sure did get some comments and some not so good, why, I will never no.π "What's wrong with "On our way to the Big Red Bash"
20210717 Well our time here has come to an end and what a great time it was with Wendy thrashing me in Checkers, but I did manage a couple of wins. We meet and chatted to some camper's, Wendy blasted them out with her music, we watched Des continually walk back and forth, as he does and as usual we drank too much, but ha, who cares.
It's not often I'm up early to capture the sun rise and the old Hag next door was at it again, snapping pic's of the other old Hag from next door.
My sunrise photo's are better than your Wendy,π
By mate, I am going to miss our afternoon games and my cursing you when I loose and the many laughs we all shared, take care and hopefully we will catch up once again on our travels.
BY, NOW WHAT WAS THAT I CALLED YOU
