Image
20200728 Stopping at Miles for lunch and all we could find was a dirty old pie shop, arr well, a pie it is so we stuffed our face then headed to Chinchilla to camp once again at Round Water Hole Rest Area.  I was so blotted all I wanted to do was take a nanny nap and sleep the afternoon away and that's just what I did. I awoke feeling refreshed so we grabbed a drink and headed out for an afternoon walk, something I haven't been doing much of.  Today is my one of my best friends birthday so this is a toast to Shirl, we have been friends since we were 16 and have shared many great memories, Happy Birthday Shirl and here's to many more. 💜💚😘 We meet Mick and Sylvia when he was collecting wood for a small fire, you're welcome to join us if you like, but it's BYO wood, so off we go in search of wood. This was there first time on the road and get this, it's the first fire they have sat around and enjoyed since, well they can't remember, that's how long it...

20200722 We now move onto Augathella, the home of Smiley the movie that tells the story of a young Australian boy who is determined to buy a bicycle for four pounds but along the way he gets into many misadventures based on the 1945 novel of the same name by Moore Raymond. The town is slowly growing with the added addition of the painted silo and with the help of a $5 donation to camp that will go towards new amenities and showers for those travelers passing through. Depicted on the tower that was painted by Blender Studios in February 2020 is a bullock team, a boundary rider, windmill and old man emu. The Boundary Rider He rode fences until sundown, Rounding stock & ejecting strays, He was the keeper of the Outback, A myth of modern days..... OLD MAN EMU He's got a beak & feathers & things, But poor old fella ain't got no wings.... "While the eagle's flying round & round, I keep my two feet firmly on the ground.... I can't fly, but I'm telling ...

20200716 After ten days of fun, laughter and adventure, we hop skip and a jump down the road to Blackall. Des copped heaps of shit from the crew, gee you could leave late in the afternoon and still make it by night fall, but you know Des, once he sets his mind there's no turning back. Today is National Pyjama Day so get out your favourite PJ's and help raise the much-needed funds for children in foster care. By donating you’ll be helping to offer learning skills to more than 1000 children, fund educational resources and help provide stable, positive relationships. Des rescues his pot after it get stuck on a stick, I'm, too sexy for my legs, my legs, I know I'm a bitch.😅 The Blackall Masonic Lodge was established in 1887 and now serves as coffee shop. 17-07-2020 I spent the day at the library come information center catching up on my blog when an elderly chap comes in and when asked where he's from, in a very soft, low voice, he says, "Victoria", well I tu...

20200714 Qld Longreach & Last Night at Lara

Image
20200714 Poor BJ, Jodie’s Blue Healer isn’t well so we piled her in the car for a trip to the Vets in Longreach. Haven to spend the night for test, Jodie and I booked into one of her friends Motel for the night and she was lucky enough to catch with an old friend who was back in town. We settle in to our rooms and out come the wine, let the night begin. After a couple of wines we decided to visit a friend of Jodie’s so off we trot down the road, had a chat then returned, only I couldn’t find my key to the unit so we retraced our steps, it has a green Key holder so we should see it I said, then Jodie threw her keys on the road, there my keys I said, no there not said Jodie, oops 😬 so mine are on the table back at the unit. Well! If only you could see the look on our face as we laughed all the way home with Jodie calling me a few choose name.   Jodie’s friend Marie was back in town and staying in the same Motel so we all went out to the local Indian Restaurant with a nice bottl...
