20240901 Ya! I’m a bit excited as we head inland to the pubs in the scrub, Grawin, Glengarry and Sheepyard, t he three Pubs are located 70 kilometres west of Lightning Ridge so off we go turning onto Llanillo Road, some parts good and some parts not so good and don’t even get me started on the cattle grids, OMG we were lifting off our seats. We finally hit the dirt road and made in about 2kmls in and had to turn around, the road was corrugated and shook the shit out of the van, Not Happy Jan. We stopped for lunch at Cumborah and decided to camp the night. The Goats monopolise the grazing ground out this way. I managed some fly by shoot of the scenery as we passed through these outback areas. No sign of any dirt road yet, just wide open space and not a house or traffic in sight, absolutely blissful. And we hit the dirt road, fingers crossed the road is good but by the look of that corrugation it doesn’t look promising. There are signs scattered all along the route to keep our interests.

20240831 I was keen to check out Lightning Ridge as the last time we were here was in 2012 so we hit the Bangate Road, onto Castlere agh Road and into Lightning Ridge. Our main aim was to stay the night and catch up on our washing then head to the pub’s in the scrub. Our first stop was the information centre to find out more about the route to the pubs and how much and how good is the dirt road, after chatting to the guy, who checked out our van told us we wouldn’t have a problem, cool. We booked into a caravan park, did our washing then headed to lunch at the bowls club. Before you enter everyone has to join for $3 but you get that back when you order a meal, but we had to remove our hats, what for we said, this isn’t an RSL club, that was just one of their stupid rules. The meal was delicious and the beer cold so with full bellies we walked the streets checking out some of the sites.  Australia supplies 95% of the world’s opal and between 2000 and 2005, production figures for uncut g

20240821 So here we are once again on a trip to who knows where but as usual we stopped at the Maryvale Hotel and sat around the fire chatting to the locals. From there onto Warwick then Karara to camp for a couple of days while soaking up the sun. Yalarbon next for another couple of days and dinner at the pub then onto Goondiwindi for fuel before heading to Talwood to check out the yabbie situation but they all left town and so did we the next day. Stopping at the Nindigully but decided to head to St George for supplies then left heading towards Dirranbandi to camp at Noondoo Rest Stop for the night and sat outside and did what we do best, cheering on the truckies with a beer as they pass. The next day we stopped in Dirranbandi for breakfast, a shower and wait for Des to wash the bugs from the van before our next stop to see if he has better luck at a creek about 20ks from Hebel where last time he filled the freezer.  20240829 Well it look like the yabbies have moved on from here also
