20200925 Qld Teebar Sport Ground to Tolderodden Park

Image
20200925 Arriving at Teebar Sports Ground and there's not a sole in site so we parked up and went in search for power and once again we struck gold, what more do you want, hot showers, toilets, power and the grounds to ourselves, theirs even a play ground for Des to run free in, I'm kidden.😂 Our camp for the next couple of days, all we need is a fire and I would be a happy chappy. With not much to do I grab a beer and my camera and go in search for some creative photos, once a year Teebar hold a Campdraft and Rodeo but unfortunately due to covid it's cancelled. Now I'm really shown my creative side and if you look closer you will see my beer on the steps. I just love these old cattle yards they have so much character and makes for some great pic's. 27-08-2020 Well it's time to move on as we are beginning to get bored and would love to find a creek where we can have a fire and camp up for a week, it's times like this that we wish the borders were open. We he...

20200828 Qld Cracow, Theodore

Image
20200828 So here we again back in Cracow only this time they have extended the camp grounds and added more power so for a small donation it is sure worth a stay.  The town was named in 1851 by pastoralist, John Ross. Rumor's has it, Cracow got its name from the sound a whip makes (‘cracko’).  Cracow is known as Queensland's own ghost town but back in 1875 the town was at it's peak with gold being mined until 1976 then in 2004 the mine reopened leading to hope that the town may recover but for some reason I dealt it. We walked to the Cracow Hotel and this time we had the added bonus of meeting the legendary Fred Brophy who traveled Queensland with his boxing troupe. Fred organised and refereed the tent boxing bout between the boxers that traveled with the troupe and willing local participants, he would put the call out to interested local challengers by banging a drum. I believe the little guy on the left is Scotty or it should be.🍻 Fred told me to tell everyone to be sure ...

20200824 Qld Kimbombi Falls to Tiaro

Image
20200824 We camped at Kinbombi Falls for the night and once parked up we walked to the the falls, there are three walks to do and all are relativity small but the last one is a doozy with 250 steep steps to climb. The town takes its name from the railway station name on the Nanango railway line assigned in 1902, which is derived from an Aboriginal word in the Kabi language, indicating a fight concerning a woman (gin meaning woman and bombe meaning hit). Our camp in the woods for the night then at happy hour we walked the grounds and found a couple to play with while sitting around their fire but it got really cold really quick so we all retired to the warmth of our vans, these old bones just ain't what they us to be. The first steep steps to the falls, not a bad walk with a hand rail to help support us oldies. The last walk, going down was fine but that up hill scope is a killer not to speak of my aching calves the next morning, I could hardly walk which just go's to show how ...

20200822 Qld Brooloo Park

Image
20200822 On our to Brooloo Park, situated on 270 acres in the beautiful scenic Mary Valley to gate crash my brother John's birthday celebration while camping on the Coonoon Gibber Creek. Arriving at the park Des goes to pay and when he mentioned lot 3, the owners eyes light up and to our surprise, NOT, she turned up at 11pm at the camp to tell them to turn the music down, surprise, surprise. Let the party begin but be sure to turn the music off by 9, god this lot is just getting started by then. With this lot there's certainly trouble in the camp. The clan gather to sing the birthday cheers to the birthday boy. The girls light up the Pavlova happy to finally be rid of it from their camp fridge. A small gift for our brother to help celebrate his special day, not that he needs anymore alcohol. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER Love You Always 😘😘 Some of the clan gather at the fire for a chat and a few drinks. This pair are child hood friends and have certainly creating many wonderful memo...
